April's Top 5: The PRIMER Edition: Focus: EYES

I tend to get alot of questions about the best primers. Since BEST is subjective, I plan to give MY favorites. This series of blogposts will be my top 5 favorite primers with focuses on each section of the face. I truly hope you enjoy this series and that its informative to you and helps you in your primer search.!!!!

We are going to start off with the eyes!!! Yay. The windows to the soul!

1. PAINT POTS! HOW I LOVE THEE. LET ME COUNT THE WAYS

These retail for 16.50 each
MAC Paint Pots
This wouldn't be labeled as a primer in the store, more of like a eyeshadow base. But it is MY favorite Primer because it dries like a primer and adds color like a base. A two in one. I use these bad boys 90% of the time. I also use them on my face. I'd be re missed if i didn't mention my favorite colors. Blackground, Painterly, Contructivist, Soft Ochre, Rubenesque, Bare Study, and GroundWork. (that's like all of them! I KNOW!)

For this look, I used CONSTRUCTIST PAINT POT

Jim Jones: Perfect Day Main Model: I used Ground Work Paint Pot

Nyemiah in Jim Jones EVERYBODY JONES video, I used Quite Natural Paint Pot
2. Don't Be Too Faced

Retails for 18.00.

Too Faced Shadow Insurance: Anti-Crease Eyeshadow Primer
This Primer has no color to it. The name says it all. It primes the lid with a velvety smooth finish and helps your shadow to adhere to the lid and not crease. It does what it says, its the insurance policy for your eyeshadow

3. SIN POTION #9

Retails for 20 something, I cant remember exact price (set retails for 39.00)

Urban Decay's Primer Potion
These wonder tubes have been talked about by almost every beauty blogger, makeup artist, makeup enthusiast etc. If you haven't heard about them, you have been living under a rock!!! The primer comes in 4 formulas with clever and appealing names: Original, Sin, Greed, Eden. The original formula has no color but the other formulas incorporate a bit of color into them. Sin and Greed are my faves because they have shimmer (not chunky glitter) incorporated into them. You can buy them separately or you can get the set from Ulta or Sephora with all 4 in mini tubes!

I used Greed Primer Potion for this look

I used Sin Primer Potion for this look

4. DON'T NYX MY CHOICES
Retail for $4.50

NYX Jumbo Pencils
The mineral oil and powder based pencils can be used for so much. You can prime, base, line, etc.  The glide on super creamy and dry to a powdery finish. BUT DON'T USE TOO MUCH OR APPLY TO THICK, or they will crease.  They come in an array of fun colors and for the price, you can get almost all of them. The ones I use the most are MILK (white), BLACK BEAN (black), POTS N PANS (silver) and RUST (rusty copper).

I used MILK for this look. It helps the colors to POP! I also used the same pencil to line the inner rim of my eye.

5.RELAX, RELATE, DE-CREASE

Retails from $6-$8

Loreal DeCrease Eyeshadow Primer
This inexpensive shadow primer can be found any and everywhere. It comes in a Nude color and dries to a powdery finish with NO color. I call it bullet-proof base because once it dries, it doesn't budge! Sometimes I use it as a lip primer because it elongates the wear of lipstick also without altering the color. Just make sure on the lips, you preface the application with a lip conditioner.

So I hope I gave you some good suggestions. Now go out and shop and play in some makeup!!!!!!!

UNTIL NEXT LOVIES!!
XOXO
